A great Weekend

We had a great time hiking and just relaxing, we learned a valuable lesson about camping next to creeks -- Don't do it, we had a terrible time sleeping with the sound of rushing water. the first night out we camped at Aspen Grove witch is at the base of Tioga Pass, we got in a little bit late and in haste/hunger set up camp so we could eat, later that night we wondered how we were ever going to sleep with the rushing water. After a restless night we headed down to Mammoth Mt. for a few supplies (breakfast) then down to Bishop for a few more necessities then back to Rock Creek Lake. We found a nice secluded camp spot and set up camp, I went fishing; something I have not done in many years, unsuccessful we at the food we purchased and went to bed - again next to a loud stream. We went for a day hike back to Dorthy Lake, about a 5 mile round trip with aprox 1,500' elevation gain. It was very peaceful to be back in the high Sierra, i had forgot how beautiful it is. there we still patches of snow around but not to cold. We have found a new spot to share with the kids and are planning a trip back for Labor Day.
